Agreement
By booking a tour with Outback Opal Tours Pty Ltd (ABN 31 146 070 277), you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms and Conditions.
Validity
All itineraries, prices, and terms are valid from 1 April 2024 and are subject to change without notice. Prices are in Australian Dollars (AUD) and include GST.
Group Size & Booking Policy
- Minimum Group Size: 8 guests for both the Town Tour and the Full-Day Tour.
- Payment: Full payment is required prior to departure and can be made by cash or card on the bus or in advance via our website.
- We welcome solo trailers on our tours. However, due to our limited 20-seat capacity and the way our bookings are generally received, advance bookings are normally accepted for a minimum of two and more guests. Solo travellers are welcome to contact us, and single seats may be offered depending on existing bookings and seat avalibility.
Cancellation & Refund Policy
A. If You Cancel Your Booking:
- Town Tour – Same day cancellation: 50% of the total price is non-refundable.
- Full-Day Tour – 1 day prior to departure: 30% cancellation fee applies.
- Full-Day Tour – Same day cancellation: 50% of the total price is non-refundable.
- No refunds for no-shows or late arrivals.
B. If We Cancel Your Tour:
- We will offer an alternative tour or a full refund.
- Refunds will be processed within 7 business days via the original payment method.
- We are not responsible for additional costs incurred due to tour cancellations (e.g., accommodation or transport expenses).
Health & Medical Conditions
Guest Responsibility & Disclosure
For the safety and well-being of all guests, it is essential that you disclose any existing medical conditions at the time of booking. Outback Opal Tours (OOT) reserves the right to request additional information and/or medical clearance (at your own expense) before confirming your reservation.
A certain level of physical fitness is required for all our tours. Guests should be able to walk over rough, uneven terrain. For the Town Tour, guests must be able to descend and ascend stairs at the Walk-In Mine, which does not have a lift.
If you have any concerns about your ability to participate, you must inform us before booking. OOT reserves the right to refuse travel if a guest’s medical condition or fitness level is deemed unsuitable for the tour. No refunds or compensation will be provided for cancellations due to non-disclosure of medical conditions.
Medical Facilities & Remote Location Notice
Our Full-Day Tour travels approximately 80 km (1 hour) from Lightning Ridge to the Grawin, Glengarry, and Sheepyard Opal Fields, a remote area with limited medical access. Please consider this when booking, as emergency medical assistance may be delayed by several hours.
Guests must:
✔ Carry any necessary medications for the duration of the tour.
✔ Inform their guide of any critical health conditions (e.g., severe allergies, asthma, heart conditions).
COVID-19 & General Health Requirements
For the safety of all guests and staff, we can only accept travelers who are feeling well. If you have a fever, cough, or any flu-like symptoms, please inform us before your tour.
Town Tour – Underground Safety Requirements
As part of our Town Tour, guests will visit the Walk-In Mine, which requires:
✔ Descending and ascending a flight of stairs (no lift available).
✔ Wearing a provided safety helmet.
✔ Enclosed footwear for safety.
✔ Walking carefully, as stairs may be slippery due to underground moisture.
Parents and guardians must supervise children at all times while underground.
Final Notes
- Guests must be honest about their health and fitness level.
- OOT is not liable for any additional expenses or cancellation fees due to medical issues or undisclosed health conditions.

Children’s Policy
- Minimum Age: Children must be 6 years or older to join our tours.
- Supervision: Children must be accompanied and supervised by a responsible adult at all times.
Safety & Assumption of Risk
- Australia’s outback has uneven terrain, wildlife, and extreme weather conditions.
- Guests participate at their own risk, and OOT accepts no liability for personal injury or loss.
- Guests must comply with all safety instructions provided by their tour guide.
Insurance & Liability Waiver
- Travel insurance is strongly recommended for all guests.
- Guests must sign an insurance waiver before the tour.
- OOT is not liable for injuries, property damage, delays, or third-party service failures.
Dietary Requirements
- We can cater for gluten-free and vegetarian guests upon request.
- We cannot cater for celiac or vegan guests. If you have severe dietary restrictions, please discuss them with our office prior to booking.
- While we accommodate dietary requests, we cannot guarantee allergen-free meals. Guests with severe allergies must bring their own food if necessary.
Changes to Itineraries & Services
- OOT reserves the right to amend tour times, itineraries, and stops due to weather, mechanical issues, or operational needs.
- No refunds will be given for changes outside our control.
Photos & Marketing
- By joining an OOT tour, you consent to us using photos or videos of you for promotional purposes.
- If you do not consent, please inform your tour guide at the start of the tour.
Governing Law
These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia. Any disputes must be settled in NSW courts.
